Participants arrive Thursday evening and settle in. We will gather for a 7 pm introduction and launch into the first “on-the-spot timed writing exercises to stretch those stiff writing muscles and get the creative writer in you feeling more relaxed, focused and perhaps even a little experimental.â€
Each morning will be spent in silence. Writers can meditate, write, walk or just sit and gaze out over the river until after breakfast, when we gather for a morning of varied sensuous and poetic prompts. We are invited to share some of this fresh work with the group, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.
The afternoons are free for working on a writing project, swimming, walking in the forest, canoeing or even napping. There is an optional gathering after dinner to share a writing piece of our choosing with the group.
The retreat will end Sunday afternoon by 4 pm.
